So long Pichilemu...

Well we have only today and tomorrow left to pack up our house, all our belongings and hit the road! It is really strange to think that our time in Pichilemu is over. We will be returning in June after the outreach but even that is only for a few days until we head off again to Ecuador. It is amazing to look back at our time in this little surf town and all the joys we have encountered, the struggles we have faced, the wisdom and experience we have gained... and as we leave this place and move on to the north I know that there are new adventures and challenges ahead of us. I am just really happy when I think about everything that we have gained here and even though it hasn't always been easy we are stronger and wiser for it.

As for our plans after the DTS, we will be flying up to Ecuador with a great friend that we have made here, Amanda from Toronto. There we will be visiting a pastor and his family (friends from Aaron's church) for 2 weeks. After this time we will be returning to the States. We both feel that God is calling us to work with the church in California. This will definitely be a transition for us especially when our "normal" consists of dirt roads, strange food and language barriers. We are really looking forward to this next step in our lives. It will also be really nice to be close to family (and starbucks too!)

We ask for your prayers in these next 10 weeks as we lead the team. As usual, I will try my best to keep you updated on all the happenings.

  1. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rules, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and your feet fitted with the readiness that comes with the gospel of peace. IN addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.

  2. I'm excited for your outreach and all that is to come for you guys. This blog you've kept has been such a blessing to know you have been and I seriously can't wait to see you guys in Dallas in September. That last weekend that you'll be in town is my 25th birthday, so we'll be able to celebrate it together if all works out. Are you guys going to get to work on your permanent residency visa when you get to California? You really should, so that way you have it and by the time you get it, you'll have been married two years and the visa will be good for 10 years before you have to renew it. When I get mine from Montreal, I'll have to renew it again in 2 years because when it's issued, we'll have been married less than two years (though it will be close). Just a word of advice, try to go through the National Visa Centre instead of USCIS (that means you'd have your interview in Canada at a US Embassy, not inside the states). Once you apply for it with USCIS inside the US, you're stuck here and if you leave you can't come back until it's done (whether you're with hubby or not). Just a heads up as it's something you really really REALLY need to get done.

I'm praying for you guys for your trip and I know you will have a completely amazing time. Can't wait to hear the stories.

    Much love,

    Jess
