Antofagasta

After a 12 hour bus ride we are now in Antofagasta, the capitol of the second region of Chile!

We arrived last Thursday and worked alongside a church for the first few days. We are now in another church, Cosecha (Harvest) for this week. Here we are visiting homes for children and hospitals, and we also had an interview on the radio and on the television. I would have never thought I would be on the radio in South America speaking in spanish... it was great but I was so nervous! One morning we also climed up "el cerro" (a really big hill) for intercession. It was really amazing and the view of the city was gorgeous.

I want to share something that really blew me away about how God really does take care of us and he provides even when we don’t know we need to be provided for… you will know what I mean after I tell you what happened.

The first church we worked with in Antofagasta gave the group a love offering of 26.500 pesos. This was the first time that this has happened for us and so we didn’t really know what to do with the money. We just figured that we would wait and see what needs would come up.

Just yesterday we got a call saying that the rehabilitation center that we were going to work with next week fell through. We found a church that would host us on such short notice but this is in Calama, a city about 3 hours away. The tickets for 11 people costs… 26.200 pesos, almost the exact amount of the love offering! I was am so reminded of God´s faithfulness and how he really does go before us and prepares a way for us.

It is now less than a month that we will be leaving Chile. I feel like so many things have happened here and this skinny little country signifies so much growth and change and struggles and key moments in our marriage and in our lives. There is so much processing to do and to think that in just 4 weeks we will be ending our journey here in South America and moving on to our next step... A part of me is a little sad to leave this place but I am also excited to start a new page in California and I know that this will also be a good thing.

Thanks for all of your prayer as we finish the last few weeks of outreach in the north (exactly 3 weeks to go!)

  1. I put up some pictures from my visit to the YWAM base in sunny and beautiful LA on my Myspace. It was so great to see and talk to my friends out there. Evan asked me if I was planning on going to China for Olympics b/c Mission Adventures is sending ppl out next year. Perhaps I'll do that...
